Hi all,
I am thinking of purchasing 1 Girard-Perregaux 4900, reference no : 4900 and the back of case shows N-BJ-192.
According to the seller, this is a Yr 2000 model, but i can't seems to find any information on this GP Model. I am new to watches and would like to know abit more before i purchase it.
The case is a solid 18k Pink Gold Knurled bezel with a dimension of 38mm.
Can anyone advise if the watch is a geniune GP model?
Thanks
Greetings from Singapore

G'day,
the 4900-Series is a product range by Girard-Perregaux of the 1990´s; there may be a watch made in 2000 (which would be surprising given the low case numer), but most of these watches were made between 1995 and 1999.
All these bear a movement supplied by ETA and while it´s been changed by GP, many appreciate GP´s propietory movements over outsourced ones. The GP4900 range naturally was priced quite a bit lower than GP´s watches with GP´s own movements, hence it may not be truly comparable to current models. All in all, a nice range for everyday wear and well-trusted.
There some dozen older discussions on various models of the GP4900 range; i´d recommend to use the search function, as it may answer many questions.
Cheers,
Peter
Thanks for the note.
Its really helpful for me to know more about GP 4900. I read some of the older threads on GP 4900 and understand that it is an "entry level" GP watch which is discontinued.
It is a great day to day watch, but as mentioned, it may not appreciate as much as the rest of the GP range.
Looking forward to own a GP watch soon.
