Oldies but goldies: Girard Perregaux platinum sets.

First of all, a set which made me dream, a lot... The Vintage 1945 Prestige Platinum Collection. It was circa 2002, and I had the pleasure to see two different sets.

One with three platinum Vintage 1945, platinum case, ruthenium dial, the Chronograph, the Big Date Moonphase, and the Reserve de Marche:

The second, with the same three Vintage 1945 + the Tourbillon with three gold bridges:

As for as I remember, the platinum " threesome " set was limited to 50 pièces.

To tell the truth, I was in love, madly in love with the platinum chronograph, not to two others, or with the tourbillon three gold bridges.

When my dealer told me that they cannot be sold separately, I gave up with the idea to get the platinum chronograph. BUT this set provided me some intense feelings!

The other set is the Richeville Complication Set... In this case, the one I loved a lot was the perpetual calendar.

A bit out of topic, as it is not a set, but it came quite at the same moment than the Vintage 1945 prestige platinum collection, this Vintage 1945 Tourbillon ( year 2000 ) :

Those were among my first high horology loves.

It is almost impossible to find other pics of the Vintage 45 set!

The Manuf has some press material but in low resolution, and you don't see the watches very well.

Incredible. And on the net, besides Antiquorum, almost nothing.

the Vintage 45 Chronograph or the single bridge toubillon are the best of them all. On the Richeville PC I would prefer the Steel version with the all whte dial.

Didn't know there was a set of 4 on the Vintage 45s with the Three Bridge Tourbillon.

The Platinum Chrono Vintage 45 is very rare but sometimes a split collection comes for sale. There seems also a version in White Gold with the same grey dial available, but equally rare.

Yes, I noticed that from time to time, the platinum Vintage 45 Chrono come for sale, and a strange white gold, with the same dial.

If I am not wrong, there is one for sale, platinum, in Germany, and it's been here for years!

The Tourbillon is top, too.

and for the 2599 Chrono, there are so many very nice options in other metals and other dials.

BTW: the set shows nicely the size difference, as the Chrono is a tad smaller than the King Size.

2599: 31 x 30 mm
King Size: 32 x 32 mm

This may sound small, but in my opinion makes a big difference and the Chrono is a bit less wide and better proportioned, so I think it's the perfect size for a Vintage 45.
