Wearing my 1950 reference 2596-1 today.  New and correct crown courtesy of advice gratefully received from Art.  Similarly thanks to Art, I now have a correct replacement seconds hand waiting to be fitted in due course.  I think the present seconds hand has been taken from a chronograph's minutes counter somewhere.

. . . ever since it was first posted.  The future of my collection is headed in that direction; there were so many obscure references produced in that era (late '40s - mid '50s), and they still pop up with some regularity.

. . . that photo was taken just before sundown last night, and with a new macro lens.  I was pleased with it, too. 

As for vintage watches in general: the first rule is to study and learn, and the second is to find a local watchmaker who will work with you.  Armed with knowledge and a trusty mechanic, the charms of vintage collecting can be extraordinarily rewarding.  Those who jump in head first without preparing themselves can find it a bitter experience.
