Yes! Though depending on the watch.
This one I'm currently wearing is not too bad, for a machine finished movement - with some hand-engraving thrown in the mix.
Staring and getting lost in the details of a nice looking, or mechanically interesting, movement can be almost therapeutic at times. ;-)

Yes I do this on a daily basis...
The girlfriend always catches me staring and moving them in different light..and she is like what are you doing? Why are you staring at your watch? I usually dont have an answer other than I like to stare at my watches!!
I am also glad I am not alone on this one...
