I used to travel to Manhattan monthly.
Had and have quite a few friends who live there. Your photos are wonderful. My only ride on the water was with the Circle Line. 😊
Interesting route...
Just interested in why you didn't take the Harlem river from the North instead of going all the way down to the tip of Manhattan and then back up the East River? Is the creek too shallow at certain times of the day? Is there too much debris in up there? Too much barge traffic? Or other factors. The route you took is obviously more picturesque.

I usually have guests and the Harlem River is essentially a filthy gutter… Almost everybody wants to see the tip of the island so I go the long way around but more specifically a good friend of mine was killed on the Harlem River in a rowing accident when a powerboat slammed into his four man boat killing him instantly. At the end of the day it just isn’t worth it plus sometimes you have to radio the gate keeper at Spuyten Duyvil.
That's what I thought. You drive along the Harlem River Drive or I-87 and you can see the rubbish floating around. [nt]
