Hi Guys,

A small query but was just curious as to when Omega introduced the really nice box featuring a moon-scape and how lon they used this box for?

I've only seen (not that I've been looking that hard!) one watch for sale in such a box - loved the box but the watch was really really showing signs of a hard life!

The Moon Rock box was introduced in the early 70s  ( early Moon landings).  The Speedy also had a "new" caseback engraving to commemorate the event....


I have the box somewhere but dont have a photo handy...

Here is my early 70s caliber 861 Speedy that has a MoonRock box...







I will post a pic of the watch in its box later this week...

Interestingly enough I was recently offered a nice Speedy with the same back on as yours ie after the pre-moon but before the 'medallion'.

The case back indicated it was a '69 watch which is correct, but the movement number was 39,xxx,xxx which to me indicated late 70's based on the usual references. I therefore suspected it maybe a replacement movement.

Any thoughts?
