Some people may know me from earlier days and some people probably never heard of me before. Thing is, that I have been an Omega addict (no pun intended) for a long time and it wasn't until last week that I pulled the trigger on a model that I probably wouldn't have bought if I didn't meet up with Bill Sohne a few weeks ago.
I know Bill for a long time and (like a number of other people here) I also knew Chuck Maddox quite well, since 1999. Bill and I had a coffee when I was in New York for business purposes and we finally got the chance to shake hands and discuss watches. In short, Bill told me that Chuck was always reminding him to get a Seamaster Pro Chrono Ti. Actually, I could and can remember Chuck raving about this watch in our lengthy email conversations about everything (including watches, windmills (he loved them), TV series, sci-fi etc).
Bill also told me that he actually wrote about the real Chuck Maddox homage watch on this forum,
click here . I am only reading forums once in a while and do not participate any more like I did 10 years ago, so I unfortunately missed this great post. However, once I got back home in The Netherlands I looked up his post about this homage watch and it made me think. It has a valjoux 7750 that I am not particularly fond about, titanium is not something I bought before because I found it to be too light weight.... however, I did try on a stainless steel model of this Seamaster Pro Chrono diver in 2000 but decided to go for the regular SMP 'Bond' model instead. Also since it was a lot cheaper of course, I was only a student. One of the things that come to mind is that the Chrono version was so thick, my cuff didn't like it either.
Now, 10 years later, 10 KGs later (double that actually) and a nice espresso with Bill Sohne later... I bought the homage watch Bill talked about and Chuck always talked about, the Seamaster Pro Chrono Diver Ti. Found one nearby my home at a small watch and jewellery shop, complete with box and booklets (no warranty card). As for the titanium case and bracelet and valjoux 7750 movement.... the titanium is actually quite nice on this time piece, as it is still heavy

and the valjoux 7750 wobble isn't as present as in other models I tried. Time keeping is a bit inaccurate on this 1996 watch (at least I guess it is 1996, the serial is 600xxxxx), but I will have it regulated at some point. However, I love it and the fact that Chuck had one and Bill bought one too, makes it of course very special to me!
Last weekend, I met some friends at the beach and took some shots of our wrist watches. The Seamaster Pro Chrono Ti included of course!

The other watches on the picture above are a vintage Certina, an Alain Silberstein Krono and a Heuer Autavia.
Best regards,
Robert-Jan
