Omega

I recently found this beautiful Seamaster DeVille in good conditions, ref. 166.0020 automatic mechanical cal. 562/565 after 1965. It has a mm 34,4 diameter stainless steel case and it's a unishell (case opening on dial side) case back with the typical Seamaster logo; the cream dial has hand-rivetted gold hour markers and “stick ” hands, and the original crystal is of armoured hesalite. congratulations on your vintage Seamaster! I like these vintage Omegas myself a lot for their classic design and their affordability. Besides there are very nicely refurbished ones available.
To me the date window in your watch (i.e. the date disc to be more precise) looks a bit unusual, the numbers seem to be quite small and the "1" is always featured "I" in my vintage Omegas. Probably the disc was exchanged some time? But I´m by no means an expert on these watches, just an "amateur" in the true meaning of the word.

Hi anaesdoc,

For me the date numbers do not look odd at all - it may be a different iteration.

The number "1" is written in "German mode" whereas in your examples it is written in the "Angloamerican mode"

maybe this is the reason for the difference?

That´s why I wanted the experts to give their opinion. My "expertise" constitutes itself from the limited numbers of watches I own, which is not much!

i have one which has the rare 560 17 jewel movement in it. its one of the few models using that movement that was cased in CH as the movement was made for export to US to be cased by Norman Morris. lovely watches although i'd rather be able to remove a caseback to see a movement if there's a problem.

I got a similar look as Graham's watch except the markers and it is a quick set date.

The cal should be 563 or 565 I don't know until the case opened.It's keeping very good time so I don't want to have the case opened to see the movement.Just wait for the next service.

The dial is just like the way it left the factory years ago,no imperfections detected.That's why I love it and a "tough guy"on dial finish like you must love it too.(still remember my Bienne restored Omega?).....
