Omega Speedmaster Moon
Hi guys, I'm looking at the mechanical Speedmaster Moon for my 40th birthday, but I intend to wear it as a daily wrist watch. Do any current owners of the 3570.50 find the manual find every two days an annoyance? And how well does the winder stand up to the constant unscrewing over time? I would look at the co-axial automatic version but its nearly twice the price!

You should wind it every day, every morning as an example.
You will not experience any crown unscrewing issue because the Moon Watch 3750.50 does not have a screw in crown.
Is a watch that is being produced (with the 861/1861 movement), with very minor changes, since 1969 (before that the movement was the 321) and this attests the reliability and lack of issues of this watch.
It's on a summary, a workhorse.

I didn't realise that about the winder, good to know. I had an old 1970's Rolex Oyster Date Precision a few years back and after about 3 years the winder broke off! Got it repaired but didn't want this to happen with the Speedmaster.
Again, my only gripe may be winding it up everyday?
I'd love the new Planet Ocean GMT with the blue face and strap and orange 24 hour detail on the bezel, but I don't think the wife would wear the price! Maybe for my 50th?

Winding on every morning is not an annoyance but a pleasure.
By winding the watch you, somehow, relates to it and, believe me, its a nice morning "ritual".
As a matter of fact, and preference, I prefer manual winding watches, because of this interaction.
A quick note. If you acquire your Speedmaster Moon brand new, during the first months the winding crown will be stiff but as the time passes the winding will be much more smooth.

I prefer hand-winding watches also but for another reason.
Michael, I like the fact that, during a rotation among two or three watches in a week, I can simply wind the Speedmaster in the morning and leave it to rest while I enjoy wearing the other watch(es) without having to worry about the Speedmaster stopping and without the need for a winder box. Then when I want to wear the Speedmaster again, possibly three days after, the watch will still be running and therefore no need to reset time.

Thank you both for taking the time to respond. I've decided to definitely get one, the original 3570.50 version. I love everything about the look of this watch, and the 42mm case is the perfect size for my wrist.
I did look at the slightly cheaper 323.30.40, grey face date, and the 3220.50 day / date, both 40mm cases but I just couldn't get past the look of them. The grey case just doesn't have the same allure as the black moon, and the day / date is just over fussy with dial characters. They felt slightly too small too. I know that buying either just to save a bit of money will have me regretting the decision within a week!
Now I just have to find the best deal, but I have read that some high street stockists are prepared to do a deal on price?
Will post a pic on my 40th B'day in August when I get it!

You will not have the same problem as with the Rolex...

From your post the your Rolex is a manual wind Oyster. That means everytime you needed to wind the watch you had to unscrew the crown , that could cause undue wear to the crown and tube if your not careful. I bet the crown and tube could have gotten cross threaded. But that will not happen with the Moonwatch.
