of great planes, I was not aware of this museum so thanks for this report, I am confident I will take the time to visit the place! And even though I have seen the SR-71 numerous times myself, I have not seen it in a setting like that where you can even climb and have a look at the cockpit up close smile. Thanks a bunch for the effort, cheers, Filip

I almost jumped in (no one was looking) but the sign was very clear

Owning a Blackbird must be very special ! What's the highest speed you reached with it ?

;-)

I haven't run it yet, still looking for a refueling partner ...

 By: cazalea : February 25th, 2017-14:32
Trouble is, this tanker isn't fast enough. The Blackbird would fall out of the sky trying to fly slow enough ...

I have flown a SPEEDBIRD though

but I sold it. :-(

Definatley a follow up, i do plastic models so this will all get saved and hopefully be able to clear some od these birds off my shelf ;) hehe Excellent photos and really enjoying everything

Your first photo: SR-71
Your last photo: P-38

What person do these two aircraft have in common?  ( Hint: One of my heroes! )

Kelly Johnson

Head of Skunk Works and designer of both aircraft.

Yes, sir! Brilliant engineer!

You should add the U2 and F117!

I must admit that I give credit to Ben Rich

 By: ZeroHour : February 28th, 2017-09:23
Project manager for propulsion and heat management systems for Skunk Works. Without him the SR-71, F117, and U2 would have not been possible. This is not to undermine K. Johnson work by any means, but it is neat to know the men "behind the scenes".
Sincerely and Respectfully
Joseph

What cool machines.

All these photos reminded me of a comic book serie I used to read when being a young boy

I used to read them and I still do :) !! Nothing shameful about that. I'll make sure my son read them too!! [nt]

I never go to the timeout section!
Thanks a lot cazalea for these stunning pictures. The SR-71 is my favorite aircraft, i used to have a tiny model of it when I was a child. This plus alphajets flying daily over my home made my an aircraft addict!
I really want to see one in real! Seeing the New York one on the aircraft carrier Enterprise is my aim.

Watchwise, i always stayed clear from pilot ones, except a Casio gw-2500 (but is that a pilot watch??). I was never really satisfied in imitations without history. Maybe I'll get a Breitling one day, like the latest aerospace evo night mission, or an old navitimer patrouille de france. Maybe.

Thanks again for these shots. I'll come here more often!

All the best,
É

Beauties!
