I have not read about him or noted his cues while online shopping. The second edition of the Billiard Cue Bluebook is available on-line as a pdf. You might look for his name. If he's big then he should be in there. Jim Odom made it into the Third edition, but he's actually pretty much a nobody outside of Texas. Makes a mean cue if you can find a late one.
He's in hall of fame. Short wait time and next to Ginacue in LA. Only $6k for a loaded fancy. His work will be collectible.
Or Richard Black, I don't think he can make many more cues. He's in a wheel chair now.
I also really like Ariel Carmelli. I am so stupid I sold a purple heart Dufferin he converted for me into a cue so good my skill level wasn't good enough 30 years ago to appreciate it. But I remember it was way nicer than my J-14 JOSS Gold Letters 1986. JOSS-1986 gold letter is now sought after cue, especially mine was laser engraved joint. Very rare, very expensive in 1986 $800 at that time ($2300 in 2025). I beat U of A with it and took me 1 year of work at Carl's Jr. to pay it off.
Carmelli was way above that cue. Danny Janes made garbage in my opinion.
Have you met him yet or seen the work he does ? It is absolutely amazing what his artistic capabilities are. He is currently no longer accepting orders as far as I know and the wait time is several years. He has been taking best of show at several Super Billiard Expose and cuemaker associations. He's beaten Richard Black and Jerry Mcworter both hall of fame inductees and a of course Richard Black is a cuemaker selected for the Smithsonian Museum collection by the cuemakers guild. He's a young guy and plays occasionally at Danny K's during the Calvin Coker Monda Tournaments. Which is also a fine place to see examples of his work among some of the participants. I have not shot with one so I can not comment on the performance, but if he is getting guild awards then I can't imagine his cues are dogs.
Until you mentioned Kent Davis, I had never heard of him. I don't think anyone out of Orange County knows about him.
Eddie Cohen is internationally famous. His cues are huge in Asia and the reviews of his cues in amazing.
. . . but not unheard of with small outfits; sometimes they encounter circumstances they can't weather, others use funds from client A to finish product for client B.
