Tote Bag Recommendations??
Looking at getting a new bag for the everyday type items that I take to the office/coffee shop.
Want to give a tote bag a try and maybe reduce the items I carry too. Need something for
a couple of notebooks, glasses case, datebook, phone/charger etc. Anyone have
a recommendation? Does not have to be leather, just something of good quality with a few
inside pockets.
If you have very particular desires
Custom is the way. I wanted a bag to carry my music and accessories back when I played more gigs and went to more rehearsals. I wanted a strap long enough to carry it cross body (not present on most tote bags), two additional short carry handles, and for it to be tough as nails. One of our family friends does canvas and leather work for fun, so I commissioned him to make it. Won’t win any beauty contests, but it does exactly what I want it to, has lasted for years, and will be easy to fix when the time comes. It sounds like your use case is different, but going custom will always be the best way to get exactly what you want. Just look around in your local area for people who do leather or canvas work.

I have a small tote and a rucksack from them.
Top notch quality. Mostly used sail boat materials. Very very rugged!

If you want something upscale and leather
you may try Serge Amoruso in Paris or Ortus Bag in Tokyo. Both really good artisan craftsman. If you are going to spend money beats buying from known brands and you actually get a very good quality product which you can use for a very long time.
