As many of you know I love my custom and vintage handcrafted guitars, but I'm also into handcrafted jewelry. I commissioned these stacking rings recently, as well as cufflinks for my work dress shirts (French cuffs...they're not just for boys anymore!).
The stacking rings are made by a metalsmith and jeweler based in Atlanta, and are engraved, hammered, and finished by hand. Bonus points if you can identify the source of the inscription I had carved into these rings. If you read the inscription on each of the four rings the right way you should be able to figure out the source of my inspiration.
The cuff links are made of argentium silver, a modern sterling silver alloy which is supposedly very resistant to tarnishing (as opposed to the rings which are made from traditional sterling to enhance their patina), and are handwound and finished by an artisan in New Jersey.
Just like the handfinishing on a fine timepiece, the hallmarks of human interaction with these pieces of jewelry is very attractive to me.
Enjoy the photos!

Cat Stevens seems to have left his best music behind him IMO for some other, er, spiritual pursuits, but I cannot deny the power of his golden oldies like "The Wind." There's a sequence in the great Cameron Crowe film, ALMOST FAMOUS, in which Kate Hudson's character is dancing alone on this empty stage as this song plays underneath the scene, and as many times as I've seen the film (hundreds of times) it still never fails to leave me a little choked up. The song is so beautiful!
Thanks for the sweet words, Art!

...your motorbike was much cooler! Care to trade?
Happy Thursday!

The hand hammering was what drew me to this artist! Thanks for your kind words!

The rings, they have to have a snug fit on the finger? I'd assume if they are slightly loose, they'd move around and be a little annoying on the finger?
Love the cufflinks!
Cheers,

...but the hammered texture causes enough friction between the four pieces to ensure that they don't clank around annoyingly. Although, I don't mind a little movement in something like this. I have a trinity or "rolling" ring from Tiffany that is three separate bands intertwined (Cartier makes a very similar ring which is one of their signature pieces), and I love to play with it during the day...rolling it back and forth on my finger. I find it releases stress! Thanks for your kind words!

I do like these handcrafted and personalised things. Unfortunately the only ‘jewellery’ I carry are watches, cufflinks and a pen. The knotted cufflinks are very nice.
Well done.
Andrew
...for a fella! Don't forget your wedding ring too, as that counts!
I am still deciding on a fountain pen, by the way. I may come to a decision soon...stay tuned. Thanks!

...and will wear the cufflinks tomorrow to the office! Thanks for the nice note, JerryW!

This week I've been switching between my Longines Legend Diver and my Stowa Marine Original. Simple toys for a simple girl!
Is it lychee season in Hawaii yet? I think they start to ripen next month! I am SO tempted to go back again this year to Hilo just for the lychees at their farmer's market! I've eaten fresh lychees all over the world, and those were the best ever...huge (bigger than golf balls!), deep red skins, pure white flesh that was juicy, sweet, and aromatic, with smallish seeds. Fruity perfection!
Aloha!

DaosI'm going to wear the 'links to work tomorrow. Now I just have to decide on which shirt to go with them...cherry blossom pink? China red? Royal purple? Decisions, decisions!
