Hello fellow PuristS, hope your holidays are proceeding as planned and that you all are looking forward a great few days with the family and friends.

I will be in Vegas for conference Jan 4-5 and would like to go out to one nice meal.  I thought I would ask for some recommendations!  Been looking on the Michelin Guide and can't really pick one.  Anyone help? and personal experience is preferred!  Thanks!

I typically like Californian cuisine, but it looks like most are French.

Hello Phil!

Lots of Vegas regulars on our forums so I'm sure they will chime in.  Where are you staying?  Make sure you check out the new Aria at City Center as they have a couple of new restaurants run by some talented chefs.  For Californian cuisine, Bradley Ogden (he's well known in San Fran) at Caesar's Palace is a good bet.

Joel Robuchon and Guy Savoy are solid recommendations (but they are French).  Places like Spagos, Mesa Grill, etc  are IMO bad.  Are you looking for on The Strip or off?  Formal or casual?

We will be staying on the strip at 4 Seasons so anything along the strip is fine.
We usually like to get dressed up one time for a nice meal in any city we go to so...but we are open to formal and casual places!

I will read thru some of the threads...looking forward to more suggestions from the "community"

Definitely try Bradley Ogden at Caesar's Palace if you like California cuisine.

Hi Phil,

Check out AquaKnox inside Venetian/Palazoo. They have good selection of fresh seafood and supposedly varieties of wine selection (not an area that I'm familiar with though).

If you're looking for a good Brazilian meal close to where you're staying, check out Rumjungle at Mandalay Bay. Good food, and a fun place to be in.

My personal favorite would be Japanese shabu shabu called Swish. It's off strip. It recently (just a few days ago) re-opened at new location off Spring Mountain, in the Chinatown area. Below is a fellow PuristS review of the place.

I've got one more recommendation for your visit to Vegas.... a visit to Bill's Gambling Hall and Casino (formerly the Barbary Coast casino located across the street east of Caesar's Palace) for a great show featuring Big Elvis.  It's very entertaining and best of all it's free:
