I am interested to know how you first 'found' PuristS. Was it from a search engine, personal referral, etc. What were your first impressions? Was it love at first site and did it feel immediately like HoMe? Did it appear to be populated by a bunch of 'crazies' or did you seem to fit right in? LOL Perhaps it took a while to realise what riches were here? How did you use the information obtained (did you buy a watch!)? Do you tell everyone you know about this great site, or is it a guilty pleasure/secret?

Interested in your recollections and current thoughts ...

I had actually searched for watch photographs online and came across several horology forums.

None really grabbed my attention but when I opened the PuristSPro page I immediately noticed something different. The content was so much more in-depth, professional and once I started reading the reviews and viewing photo galleries I realized the members here are true horology connoisseurs. This automatically instantly triggered an emotional connection and I joined the forum. By the way, I am a new member here so I think I can speak of this with a lot of relevance.

Then, by looking through the off-topic section (TimeOut) I realized members here share some other passions of mine which I found quite astounding and a true testament that great minds think alike. It is without a doubt the best online community in terms of communicating with people of the same interests.

Quite by accident if i remember correctly. I just stumbled onto it, probably thanks to a search engine, but with no real goal in mind.

I just found they way that the site was presented to be very pleasent and the commentaries just great.

It's been love ever since and the people are all so nice.

The one big advantage of PuristSPro is that prices are never discussed.

... or perhaps frighten me, how similar we are. But I guess the site is a bit 'self selecting' so it shouldn't be that much of a surprise. Perhaps one day there will be a simple genetic test to identify potential PuristS?

I remember I was searching for something about watches.. if I remember correctly, I was searching for any comparison between Lange and Patek (that's when I first heard about Lange). There's old threads discussing the 2 brands here that came up in the search engine.

At that time, I was a participant on TimeZone & Paneristi.  When I was searching for information on a watch, I stumbled on ThePuristS.  After that, it all went down hill for me

Back in 1st quater 2003 I was looking for a special watch to acknowledge my 50th birthday and had initially found TimeZone.  For some reason I wanted to learn more about Patek Philippe and probably AltaVista searched and found links to ThePuristS. Once here, I was caught in a time warp with no escape.

For info on various watches thet purked my interest.  I was captivated with this site immediately, and it has been my go-to site for always.  I've been hooked for the last eight years, checking in multiple times EVERY day.

PuristS way back when it was more like TM's personal blog.  Was looking for some car info and got diverted to the site w/ all those lambo pictures.   Never looked back!

I fitted right in (OK I lurkerd for years before first post ashamed of my knowledge compared
to members and posters on Purist) to great sorrow (and sometimes anger) of my wife

Info  is used for my late night pleasures ONLY

and yes I learned a lot... really learned a lot ..... discovered new manufactures and brands
fell in love with some pieces I reckon I will never like but what is most important to
me is I get to know lot of great people all around a world and some of them,
what is greatest treasure, I can call friends

it was 2 1/2 years ago or thereabouts when i had found my UN Freak for sale i googled it to find all the information i could and came across several posts about the Freak on purists, the most significant being Bernard's.

i registered, made a post, got a very friendly greeting from Vlad and here i am now.

Exactly like at home.

We don't agree all the time, but we express our opinions ALWAYS in a respectful way, and when we disagree, it is always interesting.

The pictures are awesome, the POV are nicely advocated ( and gently, too ), the ambiance is friendly, and most of all, I made very good friends for all over the world, here.

HoMe is my new Home...
