Dear all,

I see a lunch meeting coming up in near future in Zurich including an important client, his wife and two members of my top management - and me. Guess who gets to organize the thing??

My problem is that I have only been to the airport in Zurich and know of no restaurants in town. I would much prefer to go with a Purist recommendation than some online ad or whatever my assistant or I could look up. If someone here knows of a nice place, I would be grateful to hear from you (by PM if it is not appropriate to post directly?)

It may be interesting to look at michelin starred restaurants. Perhaps the Dolder Grand or Mesa.
It's hard to go wrong with michelin starred restaurants, although the price may be a little on the
high side.

I will only organise and participate. I have outsourced the settling of the bill, so the price range is absolutely fine with me

Hi, nicola,

You mentioned important client, which implies business formality.

And are they local? foodies?

If not too formal, a local favorite (might have a tourist taint because of popularity and age of place) is a wurst restaurant just off bahnhofstrasse. Great variety of excellent wursts and beer in an old converted armoury that looks like a lively beer hall. But not really formal enough depending on how well you know the other dining companions.

With a little more narrowing info a more appropriate venue is more likely.

the Dolder Grand is a bit out of the way but nice.

At that level You can try the main restaurant at the Bauer au Lac for something a little more centrally located.

I have had a look at the Baur au Lac and it seems to fit the bill perfectly! I like the fact that they offer vegetarian as my clients may have that preference.

I'll make a note of your suggestion for the wurst and bier place too. While I don't think it will fly for the present lunch meeting, such places can be priceless to know in many other situations.

I would further reccommend:
-Spice (considered best restaurant in Zürich)
-Kunstube (considered best restaurant around and incl. Zürich)
both above are closing or changing hands soon so you might have to consider that...

-Veltlinerkeller
- Büs
- Mesa
- Sein...

I have decided to go with the Baur au Lac this time (partly due to the availability of vegetarian dishes) but I'll definitly print and save your suggested list for future visits. It seems that Zurich can ruin you not only through the watch offerings

... at the top of the Rennweg is suitably upmarket and has an excellent menu.  It's also about as central as you can get, right in the middle of the old town (lots of shopping opportunities for the ladies as well as several vintage and used watch dealers).

The Widder is added to my now Golden List of restaurants in Zurich. As I just mentioned to Conrad, I decided to go for the Baur au Lac, but I am grateful for your response!
