I'm sure nobody has noticed, but I've been busier than usual these past few weeks and missing interacting with all of you.  What have I missed?! 

There were out-of-town visitors galore during this time, including fellow PuristS, and a houseguest for two weeks roughly, and then I had to play catch up at work (which frankly is still going on), but I wanted to take a moment and say hello, plus post about some of my recent adventures (Beware, lots of food pics coming up!).

Since I have lots of photos, I'll make separate mini posts in response to this one, so wait for them!

One of the highlights from this year's vacation was meeting AndrewD and AlexSunrise in person.  They traveled from their respective homelands to visit the LA-based PuristS this summer.  We had so much fun together!  I will not soon forget all the good times, good food and watch talk! 

I met up with AndrewD for a late breakfast, which we definitely needed to fortify ourselves for the day's activities!  Andrew had eggs benedict and I had eggs with bacon/sausage.  The hotel also had these weird juices they made on-site.  I tried one with cucumber and citrus.  It was very intriguing...

Bizarre juice!  It tasted quite herbaceous.  Not bad, but I'd prefer a smaller glass of it!




I LOVE mini anything, so this tiny Tabasco caught my eye.

Then after breakfast it was off to the vintage Omega store with Art, Alex, and Alex's sister, who is a delightful person and a Purist at heart!  She put up with a LOT of watch geekery during this trip!

This is a familiar sight to many, I'm sure!  Andrew's lovely Constellation.

The owner of the shop was wearing this timepiece.  What a beauty!

My favorite piece in the store.  I look at it each time I visit.  I think the hands are not correct for this watch though.  They seem newer and the hour/minute hands don't seem to match the second hand.  I'm not sure, but I still like the watch!

Yesterday was a bit too hot for me, but it's been great overall.  I've been enjoying the season for sure!

Nice to see more pictures. That was my first breakfast in Oliverio at The Avalon and I went on to try their hangover cure the next day. That juice was even more bizarre, but you know, I think it worked!

The LA PuristS held a BBQ, kindly hosted by mkvc and his lovely wife.  Art and Andrew made a great post about this event previously, but I just thought I'd re-post some of my own pictures here.  It was a wonderful day, and fantastic to meet up with some folks for the very first time in person!  I think I ate half my body weight in food this day!

It was sad to say goodbye to Alex and Andrew after such a fun visit, but I didn't sit still for long.  My best friend from college, Jenn, came to visit me for two weeks to check out the new house I bought.  We pretty much ate our way through the vacation, but it was a blast.  Jenn likes gardening, so we made trips to local LA institutions, Descanso Gardens and the Huntington Library.  The Huntington has a beautiful tea room in their rose garden, so that's an added element of fun.  Here are my pictures from our tour of the Huntington gardens.

We didn't even explore all the museum exhibits while there because we loitered in the gardens for too long.    If you come and visit it'll be a good excuse for me to go again.
