Front torpedo launch tubes.
A real sailor wears two SM 300's.
Artificial daylight, on a submarine you have this light during daytime, during night the light up the place with normal lighting.
A purist wearing his shirt and a diving watch in a submarine ... how pure can one go !
I wanted to touch something but got confused a bit ... these served for playing with compressed ir in oreder to dive or go up with the submarine.
The machine-room ... i felt right at home here ... and i wasn't the only one

with a Cummingham deisel engine as used in the famous London Bus of the same period
the lovely bronze firing tube on the Holland 1 dating from 1901
an Italian 'Pig' for the Paneristi
something for our diving fans
including the obligatory wrist shot
i think this is called a Bathyscape
Does remember much of the collection, and certainly don't remember seeing submarines!!

Drove down from London to visit a mate from my student years. The HMS Victory still there, and there are some new fanged apartment blocks and shopping malls on the waterfront. Spinmakers Quay or something like that. Quite livable place. So, this is home now?

Visiting a "Welsh" Purist now living in the UK.
Last friday we decided to go visit a fellow Purist residing in the UK.
While waiting for the chunneltrain we spotted this factory-Aston probably testing out a tougher version of the new Virage.
Most European sportscar manufacturers test their beutys at the Nurburgring (Nordschleife) in Germany so the English obviously have to cross the channel.
Check out that frontwing, quite sporty .
.I was happy having a go in my friends Vantage from my home via some backroads and some highways to Calais.
Once in the UK B took over the steering wheel ...
Round noon we decided to have a light meal in a local village, Kent is such a lovely place. Lots of beautiful houses and the scenery is veeeeeery nice.
On our way we met a Purist who has won Euromillions some weeks ago (+ 100,00,00 pounds) .... ... .
... .He bought a new hat and some fancy cars.
He also bought a new tea-cup.
Obviously he first bought the cars and soon ran out of money to buy a big enough parking space.

That evening we decided to put on our best shoes ...

I wanted to take this Polaris missile back home but they told me they hadn't taken of the nuclear warhead yet so i got no permission .... wouldn't have fit in the trunk anyway

Tha day after (this reminds me of a certain movie) we all (yes you too G) had a bit of a hangover and we decided to travel in style to the nearby city centre of Gosport.

its the first time i've used the camera's flash indoors and i think they worked out very well with no manipulation.

Portsmouth harbour. Gosport was the home of the Submarine service, Hovercraft
and the main Ordnance depot for the Navy. most of that has gone now and been
turned into Museums or apartments (i nearly bought an apartment in the old
officers quarters). Haslar naval hospital was closed over 10 years ago and has
been an immigration detention centre ever since.
Portsmouth harbour. Gosport was the home of the Submarine service, Hovercraft

turned into Museums or apartments (i nearly bought an apartment in the old

Gosport is home, but Gunwharf...
Gosport is home, but Gunwharf quays and the rest of Portsmouth is a short
ferry trip away(less than 10 minutes). Portsmouth is great to eat and shop, but
not so good to live in unless you have plenty of money.

I would love to see X-24. I don't think even I could stand up anywhere in those things...Imagine being cooped up in one of those things for with 3 other people for hours and hours as you made a run into a fjord to set charges on the Tirpitz?

Chariots are...
...the British version of the Pigs. Developed after the RN found the remains of an Italian human torpedo.
Mk I Chariot.
The Italians invented the things, and are rightly well acknowledged for their exploits, but the RN performed plenty of missions with the Chariots which are less well known.. I blame Panerai
