1st of May in Paris.
With a bit of delay, just the time to work on my pics, here are some photos of the 1st of May, which is a no working day in several European Countries, to celebrate an event whose roots are to be found in ... Chicago in May 1886.
So, in the countries which celebrate the 1st of May, this is non working day, to celebrate the workers, and Work.
This is also an opporutunity to stay in family, with friends and to enjoy some good and relaxing moments.
To leave Paris for a few days, or to enjoy the city, which is most pleasant where there is some sun, which was the case yesterday.
Here are a few postcards of this nice day.
The Rue Soufflot, leading to the Boulevard St Michel, a familiar place for my Pursit Friends!
Place de la Sorbonne:
A lovely garden, well known by our american friends, as it is located just in front of Notre Dame, and close to the famous american book seller " Shakespeare ".
Notre Dame, like in a dream, majestuous, sublime:
Almost in front of Notre Dame, the Hotel De Ville ( Town Hall ) with the Seine separating the two monuments. Rive droite / Rive gauche.
Our destination was another well known place for our Purist friends, and ice cream serial killers, the famous Ile Saint Louis and Berthillon, an ice maker.
It seems we were not the only one to have the same idea:

The poetic bank, where parisians use to rest alone or with friends, a parisian " Woodstock ", somewhat.
The crowdy but how charming Rue St Louis en l 'ile:

Cross the other bridge, and you will " land " in the Marais, another middle age part of the town, vety pittoresque:
Old, narrow and charmful streets, a journey into Time:
It is impossible to end such a post without some sunset shots... As announced.
From beautiful, Paris becomes magic.

Another a bit special... For some years now, it seems that some tourists decided to put some padlocks on the grill of the bridge.
The outcome is spectacular and really cool:

They took the May Day holiday away from us here, yet we still have a day off for the Queen's Birthday....and it is not even her real one. I'd best not complain
