That would be the last place I would put my watches!

I bring some of my watches with me only if I know that I have several possibilities to hide them in a safe place.

If not, they stay in the safe at the bank.

... Watches is what I bring. And I wear them when I travel and hide at the distination.

...and very much assess the destination in my choice of watches. I think robbery might be more of a problem for expensive well-known brands rather than those that are under the radar of most people.

And it is almost always something on a bracelet unless I am absolutely, absolutely sure it will not rain and there will be zero chance of me being thrown into the pool or slipping into the water myself at the pier or any such stupid moment to ruin a perfectly good leather strap.

I never use safe box in hotel rooms. Never feel they offer much protection from theft/burglary.

Having said that, I may just take two watches on a short trip for the first time soon. I am planning a trip to an island and thinking about bringing two dive watches for photography but that will involve the watch not worn being in the camera bag all the time.

the whole of life is a risk, you could get robbed with a swatch on the wrist of a patek perpetual. you could get run over by a bus with one watch on your wrist or 5 in your pockets.

many of us have cars worth more than our watches and we take them out every day with total idiots on the road.

carrying a few watches doesnt worry me.

i usually bring one or two.  i buy my watches to wear, not to store.  life, as you say, is full of risks, and i suppose of something horrible happens, i'll regret it, but i'll also get on with my life. 

at the end of the day, most folks don't notice these watches.  just being a tourist on vacation in cape town is enough to make one a target on the street, rather than the watch one wears.

... in my mind, invites the negative energy in.  Graham, I do agree with you on your take. My cars are still worth more than any one watch I have, but I would feel that same way.

You go on a trip and your house is robbed.  My friend's mom went on an extended trip and did something interesting.  She had an older car in her garage which didn't work; she stored many valuables in it's trunk including paintings, jewelry, family heirlooms, etc.
