While in Geneva I tried a number of restaurants, most recommended by the locals. While I do try to eat local cuisine and drink regional wine and beer when travelling, it seems that much of the best food and ingredients in Switzerland are imported from surrounding countries, such as France and Italy. At least that was my experience over the few days I was there. And I’m happy to be shown otherwise on my next visit. J
But I would like to share with you a Lyonnaise restaurant near Cornavin Railway Station (and the Red Light District – yes even Geneve has one!) called Bistrot du Boeuf Rouge. It was so good I went back twice. Always busy, friendly staff and food cooked with love. Nothing too pretentious, just tasty bistro food. Give it a try when you are in Geneva.

General Ambience

Salade Lyonnaise (Lettuce hearts with bacon, croutons and soft poached egg)

Andouillette moutarde (Tripe sausage in mustard sauce)

Dessert au choix ou fromage with coffee

And some menus to peruse for my PuristS friends in Geneva for SIHH ...

Hi Cen,
The salad was a particularly good way to start the meal.
The photos are a mixture of the M9 with a 50mm Summilux and the D-Lux-4, my usual camra for watch macros over the last few years. The low lighting and white balance was a real challenge for me. But we learn something and get better each time.

Terrine of duck foie gras with brioche

Preparation at the table …

Saucisson de Lyon pistache, salad de lentilles, pommes Lyonnaise
(Warm Lyon Sausage with lentil salad and Lyonnaise potatoes)

Tarte au citron (Lemon tart)

... jump on the next flight to Lyon! I loved the food, particularly the sausages.
Even the espresso coffee, which wasn't a strong point around Geneva, was excellent. [I guess Nespresso was 'born' in Lausanne, but it was ubiquitous in Switzerland; consistent but not true espresso.]

That looks like a very nice place, I think I passed by there on my last visit to Geneva, but we went for a "raclette" instead. We have a restaurant here in Valencia that has the same "savoir", and the food is fantastic.
I like the focus in your pics, make them charming to my eyes. Food looks delicious too.
Thanks.
