I think that the date does an excellent job on the senator Excellence. Without it the white dials - especially the steel one - may be perceived as standing at the edge of being a little too empty. The date "fixes" that in a convincing way. Even more when it is balanced by that lovely moon phase indicator. This has already nicely been confirmed by the current Senator Panorama Date and Panorama Date Moonphaae. (I will have to see in the metal though how the "white" moon works in the gold case.)
I think it is safe to assume that we are watching the current cal.100 based Senator line being taken out of duty one by one.
I like very much direction in which this is going. Aesthetically as well as from the technical point of view.
Btw: Did you note that Nicolas liked the date on a watch that is available without it also? That is something
