Glashütte Original

My opinion remains, and incredible modernized version of a traditional Chronometer.

No words can describe.
BTW I recently had a chance to see the new model with blue dial, a universe of colors in the dial.

It sure has a different personality to it.

I have seen the same watch first in real last weekend at the sensational Zagreb Gtg., from an other dear Purists member.
What can I say?
It is one of the heaviest watch which I have ever had in my hand from Glashütte Original. Very puristic, beautiful dial, great movement and what a function! You can set the minute-hand jumping from minute to minute, for-and backwards!
I was so deeply impressed that I am thinking that this watch could be my next Glashütte Original watch...

I guess I can ramp up a new photo assault of the model, and recruit my fellow PuristS owners to join the campaign!!
I can't say enough about it. The movement specifics you point out, they go into my thinking of it as a "modern" chronometer. The date of course attributes to it as well, but the movement technologies in this watch are superb.

If I really could only choose one, it would have to be the AP. It is quite a bit more versatile than the white gold cased Glashutte.
Not fun to consider not having the Glashutte!

Same dial colors and hands as mine. You could not go wrong with either.

I bet you are craving for a G.O. Chronometer. And I know the feeling well. Took me six years of dreaming until a stroke of luck paved the way.
During that time I did not allow me to purchase any other G.O. and no other naval chronometer like watch. There was always The One...
I wonder if your interest in the white dialled, blue handed Senator Observer is somehow linked to the Chronometer ;-)

I really like the Chronometer, especially the Regulator one, but... there's a but! It is in gold, a metal I really dislike for watches!
I had, at the beginning of my "collection career" two watches in gold, white and yellows, and I sold both after one year circa: I don't like the way that gold changes the surface after wore it! Too much easy to scratch for my taste, that's all.
I'm sure I have mind issue but... gold is a strong no-go for me.
Having the chance to choose the metal, gold or steel, same prices, it would be right on my wrist!
This is the reason because I have in my collection several great pieces from GO (and other brands), but all in steel, the metal I really love: and right now, the first on my wish list is the Senator Diary, in steel, of course A masterpiece of enginering, no doubt.
The Observer is a watch I really like, it has a well balanced dial with arabic numbers (another plus from my side), moreover with a modified version of the Cal.100, with hacking second and quick date change: interesting features... A piece I like a lot!
Said that, I have the feelings that I will continue to admire your wonderful Chronometers... suffering for my mental insanity :-(

Just because he would have a view onto things that is different from mine. In the contrary, the respect exercised on this site for different opinions is one of the things that make PuristSPro so special.
That said I completely share your idea of steel being the superior case material exactly for the reasons you mentioned. Even if in the meantime I found the WG case to be consistent with the very special movement of the Chronometer. But I am wearing it rarely and with care because of the soft case.
Seems to me that you are a "movement guy" like I am. The idea to invest into the movement rather than into the case material appeals to me.
The Diary is a great choice! A very special movement, a unique execution of the alarm complication and surely a great addition to your already impressive collection of G.O.

Like you write, I'm a "movement guy": about Diary for example, thinking at the watchmaker that put together more than 600 tiny parts... (631 parts, and they worked!) simply drives me crazy! Incredible!!!
Now that I'm not so far from my first 50 years... it's time to start thinking how to celebrate ;-)
