This image was taken together with the Tourby Regulator. The panoretrograph is one of a couple of movements I truly admire and happy to rephotograph over again. I am particular glad with this image as I was able to get the whole movement into sharp focus.

I guess Art alluded that you have this timepiece. Allow me to elucidate on why some photos make the watch look better than the real thing - at least in my theory. 
The human eye fools our brain because in reality, when our eyes focus the rest of the watch is actually out of focus but our eyes are trained to think that its clear.
The camera lens act in the same way which is why when we shoot - some parts are sharp and others blurred or out of focus. In this particular image, the trick in the image is to have the whole watch sharp all the way through on the two dimensional plane. This effect makes "the watch look better than in the metal".
