The good news is that achieving great photos is no longer the hallowed realm of the wealthy or the gifted. It just takes a fair bit of practice and the right equipment. My suggestion is to shoot a watch a week and read as widely as possible on watch photography (online) and photography magazines - that will shorten your learning curve dramatically. You will progressively see improvement over the months.

I was very glad that this image was chosen. The watch is a monumental piece (just see how long the gong is) but the image is special because of a complex and time consuming technique I used to process it to make it sharp with a wide depth of field - something you will discover is quite hard to achieve using dedicated macro lenses!
