Hi guys, all those pics of the new Cal 22 Karree got to me. Couldn't resist picking up this new Karree HW at the AD today... went in just to have a look but couldn't resist it...

. . . is just perfect in my book. Mine will be here soon, and it's in the same configuration as yours - steel case, black dial, black strap with contrasting stitching. I have a feeling the K P is going to be the watch I'm going to prefer for everyday use now that I've taken my perpetuals off of their winders. Was inspired by you to get this piece.. have always been held in awe by your GO collection especially your perpetuals. I admit I bought this watch solely for the movement. Originally I wanted the Cal 42 but its long been discontinued. This 22 looks exactly like the 42 so I was sold on it except that i'd preferred if it had German script engraved on the caliber instead of in English. I actually wanted the silver-dialed version but then again, I already have 2 silver-dialed GOs... the black dial also looks rather interesting under varying light conditions. And the applied(?) roman markers are a first for a GO I believe. However I encourage people with smaller wrists to try it on before buying. The strap ends that fit to the lugs aren't movable, hence the watch suits bigger-wristed people better. My wrists are kinda small so I had to use the last hole. Not so the case for my Panoreserve or Senator Moon.

However I must say that I do have a soft spot for hand wind watches. Don't really like the rotor obscuring the movement with the exception of micro-rotor watches. Hope for more hand winds from GO in future.

Fellow Purist Tim T located one of the rare reverse pattern Karree cal 42's for me in H K last year, but I was in the midst of buying a home and couldn't spare the funds at the time. The more I pondered the watch you just acquired (and that I should have shortly), though, it became apparent to me that the cal 22 was the better all-around design. The designers at G O created such a balanced watch that I was able to abandon my favored original Karree case design . . . the canny mixture of formal and casual design elements in the cal 22 Karree Panodate has produced a watch that can be worn in pretty much any situation with ease. If I had to do with just one watch for everyday use, it would be the K P . . . cordially, Art

I was just able to try this watch on at one of the local AD, and found it to be a very attractive piece.  It is the perfect watch to be dressed up or down in.  Also, I am particularly fond of the black dial with the silver applied romans at 12, 3, 6, and 9.  The date is positioned perfectly above the six, and gives the watch a perfectly proportioned balance.  The cal. 22 movement is a real treat to look at, especially love the fact that it is fitted to the case.  Enjoy the watch and wear it in good health.
