Was this a common problem with fading of these older watches? I bought this new a few years ago, and it's not seen the light of day for the past 5 years. Would it be worth the cost to have the hands redone along with general service? The markers aren't nearly as bad so I'd leave them alone. When new, it had a slightly faded look already. I suspect it may have been in the display window at Christs Jewelers in Frankfurt too long.

LIke a magnificient thing...
You have Tritium indexes and hands, and tritum, at the contrary of Luminova, ages...to turn in a vanilla / borwn / orange color...
This is just normal, and more than normal, this is just magnificient...Your dial is wonderfully patnied, and it gives to your watch something like soul, and even more charm...
Don't touch nothing on your dial, and more, ask to not touch anything on your dial, not the hands nor the dial..as they may change it!
Just keep it as this!
Best.

The only reason to change anything is if there's anything cracking or flaking, which could lead to problems with the movement. Otherwise, just have it serviced and ask that, if possible, to keep the original dial and hands.
That's quite the find. Congratulations!
