I am looking to buy a preowned Lange 1 or GO panomaticlunar. I want YG either way. I prefer automatic movements and realize the Lange 1 doesn't have that option. I'm trying to learn the pluses/minuses to each. Better build, more exclusive, service dificulites including cost, etc. I also really like the deployment clasp on the GO! I am currently a Rolex owner and will be using this watch for a daily wearer rotated with my other two pieces. Any help is appreciated.

. more than sufficient, I'd say. Yellow gold was never an option for the PML, though . . . you'll have to settle for rose ;-). Don't forget about dial options: besides silver, there are both black and grey dial versions, but both have been discontinued for some time. Let us know how the search goes . . . cordially, Art

I guess exclusivity wasn't the correct term. I want something that unlike my Rolex datejust you won't see everday but that also retains value. Thanks for the update on the PML not being offered in YG as well.

Also a manual but more like the Lange so I thought i would throw it out there. Realistically you're unlikely to run into any of the watches mentioned on another wrist any time soon, outside of a get-together, perhaps never. I'm not sure if it can be posted here but I have a comparison review of the PML and langematik on pdf that might be of interest? A brief summation would be that the PML held up very well to direct side to side comparison. I downloaded it off the internet some time ago but was unable to turn it up in a search now. If your of a mind and its ok with Art I can try and figure out how to post it.  Mike

. . . we really shouldn't post either links to other websites or their articles, Mike. Of course, it's perfectly ok to privately exchange information. Jhurst has a stated preference for automatics, but you're right about the tight match between the two in terms of dial layout:

While both use the 'dial as a palette' formula, it's really quite amazing how much they differ. The G O tends towards concision, while the Lange is more expansive. The only way to really tell is to compare both side by side . . . cordially, Art

Nice idea in Panoreserve, but I really like the automatics for now. As I'm just getting into "fine" watches, I'm taking baby steps.

This is just my own opinion but an auto tends to fair better in a daily wearer situation compared to a manual where its automatic function will keep it wound without intervention. If its an intermittent use you can find that a manual can be wound daily on or off the wrist and not have to be reset whereas the auto will need to be on a winder or reset and wound enough to start. Keep in mind I am not saying one is better than the other and I have a PML myself, just observations on living with a mechanical watch. Depending on what you want and your intended usage you might want to consider reading up on winders and their pros and cons.

I found a two year old panomaticlunar in rose gold with papers for what I consider to be great price. Will keep you posted. Anything I should know/look for? What are service interval recs?

The watch I am buying is told t b yellow gold but I didn't think this wa offered in pml?

Can the dial of a PML be changed and if so any ballparks on cost?

. . . that G O will not change a dial type once a watch has left the manufactory . . . in other words, if you purchase a silver dialed PML, they won't switch it for a grey dial. It's not an issue for some manufacturers, but it seems to be for G O . . . regards, Art
