Hi All, I pulled the trigger this evening on my second GO, the Senator Rattrapante in platinum. I borrowed the photo from another owner and will post some scans of mine upon its arrival in a few weeks. I agonized for months over choosing this one or the rose gold model, and decided on platinum for several reasons: it's beautiful, rarer (100 pieces) and the price difference wasn't much, probably because the rose gold model comes with a deployant clasp vs. the tang buckle on the platinum model. My other GO is a Senator Perpetual cal. 39 in RG, which was a limited edition from Westime around 7-8 years ago. This is a great brand and I am very impressed with the watch's finishing - I think every bit as good as its main German competitor up the road a bit!! And you didn't post pics of the movement, which is another strong argument in favor oif this Chrono.

Think about it, what other Manufacture can provide a manual wind Rattrapante in this category of price?

Since I didn't pull the trigger on the vintage AP 5402 A-Series I showed you from the dealer in Italy (based largely on your recommendation about how much work it needed perhaps 7,000 Euros!), I had the itch to buy a great watch before the end of the year.

I have admired this GO since it was introduced a few years back, so I figured if I purchased this one, at least I know the watch is NIB and won't need a service for some time

I agree with you completely that the movement is incredible.

I used Craig's photo of the dial and didn't want to borrow his beautiful photos of the movement.  Once I get mine, I will post many pics.

I would however like advice from Craig as to how he creates such wonderful photographs!

I have been enjoying mine since Day One, more so after adding an extra hole to the strap; now it fits snugly, without constricting the wrist.

For chronographs, which I frequently use as such, my choice is always platinum or steel, when available.

But there is more to this one that meets the eye, having recently spent nearly an hour examining the movement under a 12 X magnifying glass.

For me this is perfection, from the layout and engineering to all aspects of the finishing.

For a time I was considering starting a thread called Functional vs. Aesthetic Finishing, although that is an old, if ever recurring theme.

With the G.O. Rattrapante it was impossible to draw a line between the two or make any kind of distinction. This is horology at its finest! Even the engraving on the balance cock fits in perfectly with the overall design, without calling undue attention to itself as an object to be admired in its own right - which of course you completely free to do!

What else is there to be admired?

Simply everything - down to the very last detail. Finding that one will take some time. There are so many parts that are purposely left Unhidden, and not covered by a rotorl

My suggestion: start the chrono (or rattrapante) before getting out your favorite loupes and lenses.

That way you will be timing your time with the timekeeper...

The Rattrapante is certainly one of the most impressing G.Os. Especially from the movement side.

I didn't see that one coming at all, Robert!  I thought we might be seeing the RO 5402 or somethng along those lines.  I see, however, that you seem fine with your decisions. LOL.

Congratulations!  That is one of the most impressive GOs.  This one will remain a dream for me, but I am glad yours is coming true.  Now when we meet, you are going to have to bring both the Pt. Julbilee and THIS one, too!

. . . once a masterpiece from Glashütte takes hold of your imagination, it never lets go! The Senator Rattrapante is one of the most magnificent chronographs ever, in my humble opinion. Once you start working the pushers, as I have on a few occasions, I believe you'll find the tactile experience second to none.
