Panomaticlunar XL with black strap

I purchased a PML XL a few months ago which I am very pleased with.

However, like some people, I found the standard strap too long. I asked my AD about getting a shorter grey nubuck strap, but unfortunately Glashutte told the AD that these did not exist. I had to get a shorter strap, so I decided to go for a normal black strap with the short length. After a month wait, this finally arrived this week and is now fitted (and much more comfortable).

Here are before and after pictures - I'd be very interested in people's views of how the black strap looks compared with the nubuck grey.

PS I have been reading this forum for a while now, and find it very helpful. In April I ordered my first independent watch after seeing photos of it on the AHCI section - I should get it later this month.

was to ask the AD to make one more hole into my PM leather strap. If you really like the nobuk strap this may work. 
Your PML looks no worse no better with the black strap but way more formal (dressier).

Love the PML-XL, but I never did warm to the fuzzy grey strap.  I much prefer the black that you have installed.  The contrast makes the grey dial look more grey, if that makes any sense at all.

Many thanks for the feedback. I guess I was a bit surprised at how much just a change of strap can change the look of a watch. The key thing for me is that the watch is now much more comfortable to wear since the metal part of the deployment clasp is under my wrist rather than angled to the side (I did get an extra hole punched in the grey nubuck strap but wouldn't recommend this since it wasn't comfortable to wear).

Given how many people decide to change the standard strap for the short one, I think GO should consider making the short strap the standard size. This would appear to bring it into line with other brands - its a bit odd that they are out of line at the moment. If I buy another GO I will make sure that I get the strap sorted out first.

However, after wearing my watch with the black strap for the last few days, I do prefer the new look - it does, as Roger says, bring out the grey dial well. I agree it looks smarter now which I also like. 


I prefer the black strap.

My only suggestion would have been for a black strap with contrast dark grey stitchng to go with the dial if that were possible.

Richard, yes will post pics as soon as it arrives, hopefully not long now. A clue - it has a close link to where I live.

Also I agree that some grey stitching would be good - my AD said there wasn't much of a choice from GO, so rather than get a custom made one, I decided to opt for standard black. Now I've worn it a bit, I'm very happy with it.

. . . which is now on its second grey lizard strap.  The strap originally supplied was black alligator, and also too long for comfort.  Rather than source a short black strap from G O, I decided to try a matching color with a geometrically harmonious scale pattern, and not regretted it for a moment since.

If and when the mood strikes, a strapmaker should be able to craft a design that precisely reflects your requirements and preferences.  Obtaining an optimal fit and appearance makes for an enhanced ownership experience, and well worth the expense and effort.

Sorry for the delay in replying, but my grey Karree was locked away in a safe deposit box until yesterday!

Its only now I've realised that straps are important to the look of a watch...(maybe stating the obvious, but it hadn't been a factor when considering my previous purchases)

. . . for context.  My take is the grey strap contributes to a sense of aesthetic continuity, while a black strap would accentuate the aesthetic 'weight' of the watch itself.  Whether you tend towards a more casual (like myself) or more formal appearance basically comes down to personal preference.
