. . . Glashütte!

Ever since I began following Glashütte Original, I've been intrigued by the lack of a truly iconic design emanating from their design bureaus.  Unlike Rolex with the Submariner, Omega with the Speedmaster, or Panerai with the Base, there doesn't seem to be a single design that instantly comes to mind upon hearing the words "Glashütte Original".

That may be changing now with the advent of the Senator Chronometer, but short of this pending denoeument, my sense is the one design that most often comes to mind when the subject of Glashütte Original arises is the PanoMatic Lunar, in any of its guises.  The grey XL is the most subtle of them all, but the beauty of the design is still apparent.

Have a good weekend, Rob.

Cordially,

Art

Thanks...

I'd agree that GO don't have a signature model in the same way some other brands do. The Pano series are perhaps the closest they have - even though comparisons with their cousins at Lange are ineveitable.

I like all variants of the Pano line, from the simple PanoMaticDate and PanoReserve, to the more complex chrono models. I went for the PML XL because it strikes a great balance between the dressy and casual. If I wanted a purely dress Pano, I think possibly my favourite would be the new thinner bezel PanoReserve in rose gold on the new brown nubuck strap (pic link from prvious post). The slightly thinner case on the manual wind models make them a little more elegant IMO, and the clean, simple dial is lovely. I have yet to see the new models in person yet though,

. . . out of a sequence of 83 taken that day.  No processing of any kind, not even cropping, in that image.
