. . . of the Senator Perpetual . . .
. . . once owned. A very limited edition (of ten) Navigator model, in rose gold.
The Senator perpetual, whether of the cal 39 generation (as this one) or cal 100, is suited for that person who has a deep appreciation for the complication and prefers a traditional round case. My personal preference is for the Karrées, but acknowledge the minority opinion that represents. The significant difference between the two lies in the absence of a seconds hand in the cal 39 Karrée iterations, which offers a relaxed presentation by comparison.
That said, it's difficult to come up with any competitor that offers the combination of manufacture quality, intrinsic value, aesthetic legibility, and mechanical performance that Glashütte Original perpetual calendars are imbued with.
If you find the smaller case size of the cal 39 versions more appealing, then be sure to test the watch in-store for the transition between the 30th and the 1st. There were a number of reported 'sticking' transitions between a month with 30 days and the first of the following month; all cases I'm aware of were corrected under warranty.
The current cal 100 models are free of this problem, to the best of my knowledge.
Here's hoping there's a Senator perpetual in your future!
Warmest,
