Underwater—the good kind!
I was on the beach for Christmas and I took my 111 into the ocean and to the pool a numerous times. It never occurred to me to not do either, especially since I don’t often expose it to salt water or chlorine, and also because I rinse with fresh water after the day’s swimming. A friend noted that he would never take his APRO into the water because even though it’s a sports watch it’s still delicate. I get that Panerai and AP are very different animals, but do others hesitate to bring their Panerai into the water?
I think these watches are meant to be used as they were designed to do its all good
I take my Breguet Marine into the water all the time. Not meant to be babied is how I treat them

I took all my divers in water.
Never an issue with any brand. When i had my Pam’s (320,000) both saw lots of ocean time and never a problem. I just let them soak in tap water in the sink after I was done. On that note, my buddy had 3 different AP’s and everyone had problems. Not water damage but things like the crown falling off. So no i wouldn’t take any AP in the water as I don’t trust their qaulity.
I have no diving watch in my collection for the moment unfortunately but if I had one really dedicated to dive, I'll swim with it

Firstly, welcome to our forum.
....I have used a couple of Panerais into the water and have experienced no problems at all. A nice swim with a Panerai it's what the manufacturer intended 
Only thing though, if one plans in swimming/diving regularly for an extended period of time (summer) I would have the water tightness checked beforehand. That's not because Panerai is a particularly delicate watch brand, but because ALL the mechanisms which are water proof, must be checked. IMO of course Again, welcome. Ciao

I used to have the PAM111 and used it on a few dives.
No problem at all!
Only thing, like Sergio mentioned, you need to regularly (once per year or before each water vacation?) check that the water seal is OK.

One thing to remember...
Salt water and chlorine corrodes rubber gaskets. Its perfectly fine to wear your PAM in the water, but wearing it in the water speeds up the likelihood of it being less resistant over time. So take the advice of others and get those pressure tests to ensure your once water tight gaskets are still intact. Lastly, wash off your watch with fresh water after every swim.
