Here's something you don't see all that often, yet imho is an excellent value for those who love mechanical timepieces. i keep her on my nightstand and charge the lume just before going to bed, as the lume is easy to read all night long through the morning. Not overly bright, thank goodness, yet just the right amount of glow to read the time. Panerai's PAM 0641 table clock has their 8-day manual-wind movement inside a lovely 'ball'. The ball magnifies the inner bits with clarity, so the smaller dial and movement become beautiful eye candy. There's a bit of heft, too, as the glass and metal casing is very solid. Been enjoying mine for many months and can't see living without her on my nightstand

I agree with your comments and description and may add that it is offered in three variants of dial: your SLC, a traditional 3-6-9-12 and a California dial which is the variant I own and love so much.
Here's a link to each, and yes some designs are available / some not. Available: www.panerai.com Not Available Right Now (yet they still make them I believe so ask your dealer/boutique) www.panerai.com www.panerai.com Hope this help.
fall (in my set of values) under the..whatever floats your boat...category. You love it? By all means, buy and enjoy it too much. It doesn't float my boat, though
I see inspiration of the dial from the SLC. It is very beautiful and mesmerising to look at. Of the clocks created by leading watch brands, I like this most, and also perhaps the Ulysse Nardin clock or the JLC Marc Newson Atmos clock in blue.
