1) I am close to reacquiring a used 91 and doing some current searches online and it struck me that Grey Anthracite dial is no longer part of the stable - or am I wrong?
2) The material itself is a mystery for me. How is it made and is it a material easier/harder to make than for the standard sandwich dials?
3) ALSO I am curious - can any one tell me, in the world of fake panerais - have there any fake 91s ever made/seen?
4) Current models do not have 100% satin finish bracelets like the discontinued 91, 124 and 106 - OR am I wrong?
Thanks for looking and in advance to anyone who is able to answer. Cheers!
1) yes, anthracite dial has been discontinued
2) the dial is not made of anthracite but it does have a peculiar colour and looks different at every possible lighting and angle
3) not sure, but anthracite dials are very hard to imitate
4) i think the 220 has this feature but I am not 100% sure... I am more of a strap person
a few scans of the 91 and 86 just to share
I wonder why the anthracite dials had been discontinued. Any ideas why?
BTW your images do not appear. But I must admit to you that I had once owned both the 86 and 91 myself as well.
Alas, I sold both of them - I must have had a bad panerai day do have done so. I miss the 91 more though.
Cheers
but I would expect Panerai to release new models with anthracite dials in the future.
Cheers,
Anthony
I was looking forward to receiving delivery of the used mint condition 91 to fill my vacuum but alas.... the dealer had reinspected the used piece and informed me kindly that there were problems he had not seen. The anthracite round the subseconds had discoloured and there was a missing screw in one of the links. Darn.
I have to wait for a few months for the problem to be solved at the Richemont service centre and it may up the price a fair bit. So I am considering an alternative. A possible 220.
Oh well, have to be positive and look at it as providence that the watch was not meant to be mine. It just means that I can use the funds for another watch.
Hopefully you use the funds for a different Panerai
Please do keep us updated Harry!
Cheers,
Anthony
