I can only say that you should go to an AD and try out each watch to see which moves you most. If you're thinking in terms of keeping value, you might want to go on a collectors market and look and the resale value of a particular model.
I just tried a PAM24 Submersible on for the 1st time a month ago and found it was nicer than the scans I've only seen online. The 112 is a base model with caseback display of the PAM 000. The movements may also be the same, I think. There may be differences with the dial and luminescence also as well as the logo on the 000. It may be a question of whether you want to see the movement or not on your watch.
From a personal perspective, I wish I had started with a standard base model. There's nothing quite like the a base.
Best of luck,

and intended for daily wear, I recommend the 24. It's a fantastic daily beater, automatic with date, sporty and unique.
For history and aesthetics, I prefer the base, but not as a daily wear.

It's classic Panerai - 44mm Luminor Base. Can't get better than that for your 1st PAM IMO.
I'd also recommend getting a PAM0 or PAM5 as other considerations

Hi 303,
I first started my Panerai experience with 005 and never feel regret of having it. I also have to accept that the 005 get much of my wrist time than other PAMs.......I would say the 005 is my beater.
Between 112 and 024, I recommend you to get the 24 as of its look and self winding will be nice of daily wear.
Anyway, if you tend towards the 112...I would recommend you to take some look at 219-destro. The piece is quite nice and I believe it will be quite rare in the future when Panerai discontinue the mode. The 219 is the only destro the ADs provide at this moment.
Good luck fot the first PAM.
Cheers
