His comment concerning Minerva and Panerai
"Now to my absolute favorites of everything that Panerai has brought to the table this year.
The 2 titanium 47mm Radiomirs with Minerva movements. Pure and simple!! (Richmont group has bought Minerva)
Absolutely magnificent!
Produced in 150 pieces, 100 with black dial and 50 pieces with brown dial, these watches epitimize what Panerai is all about. No historics this year?!?! These two watchs are very much historic. And what most of you do not know is that there actually is a historic connection between Minerva and Panerai.
When the Panerai family business owned the Orologeria Svizzera in Firenze they produced watches, albeit pocket watches, and the movements in these watches were produces and supplied by.......Minerva. Reciept from the 1920's confirm this.
So the connection is there. A connection to the history and the roots of Panerai?? You decide. But I think so."
Sorry, I do not succeed in pasting the link.
THANKS LARS FOR YOUR REPORT.
Best regards,
Patrickh
Nice reading,
Patrickh
I will make an exception to this rule this one time because Lar's post is about the new SIHH models, so I won't edit out the link even though I think Paneristi doesn't allow links to any other forums anymore, including ours.

The link with History is not evident at all, but for those who absolutely to believe...
Respect.
Panerai used only Rolex Cortebert and Angelus movements for all their Vintage watches...
Wrist watches.
Till 1993...
That's the historic point, quite strict, but true.
As for Pocket watches....
But I tjink that Panerai used some Minerva parts for their tools as the Curvimetre, for example, which is a pure and close copy of the Minerva Curvimetre..
So Yes, there is a link, but not with wrist watches...
Let's say that the 309/322 are in the spirit of Vintage Rads. And it's quite rare, so it's a good thing..
Best.
Nicolas
between Panerai and Minerva.
I expect further information coming soon.
Maybe Panerai could explain in details his strategy. To date, we have all understood that Minerva is part of Richemont now. And some Minerva movements are already integrated in Montblanc, Panerai....watches.
Best regards,
Patrickh
Minerva at every sausage...
Minerva here, Minerva there...why?
To get a legitimity in the fine art of Horology?
I fear it's rather a marketting hit, than an historical reason...
Just my 2 cents...
Nicolas
in the new book edited by Flammarion:
Panerai, the history
Simon de Burton et Giampiero Negretti
ISBN : 978-2-08-030541-1

I hope so.
Anyone have already get a copy?
Patrickh
Lugged it back from SIHH and this book weights a TON.
It's more of a coffee table book due to its size, and here are some pictures of it I just took. My cover is different than your pic btw but author is the same, and i put an apple in the picture as a point of reference on how HUGE this book is.
Cheers,
Anthony

Me too, I got mine...
A gift from Panerai France.
Nice pics, indeed, and some interesting things inside.
As for Panerai Litterature, there also exist the Book " written" by Dino Zei..." La Panerai di Firenze".
Best.
Nicolas
