If you have to choose a 40mm current model, which would your choice? Looking to get my first Pam but anything over 40mm will overwhelm my small wrist :-(
TIA!
I have a 283 which I find more appropriate for dressier events because of the 40mm (smaller) size and I think the blue dial makes it elegant. I think that wearing a big watch (of any brand) on such occasions makes one look juvenile. I have a relatively small wrist (6.75") so the 40mm watch is the best for me in any case, but I still like the bigger size to go to Las Vegas, for example.
When I see a picture of e.g. a Luminor Marina by itself, I cannot tell if it is 40mm or 44mm. Of course if two of different sizes are next to each other then I can tell which is which, but without a point of reference that reveals the size the two Marinas are identical. So I think that anyone who belittles a Panerai because of the size does not have an argument. Also bear in mind that a 40mm watch is not a small watch, it is just the smaller Panerai. Anyone with a 6" wrist and a forearm not much bigger would look ridiculous in a 44mm watch.

My wrist...14,5 cm, 5,7inch !
BOMBA 44mm
.
249 and 190...47 and 45MM
.
The only 40....The PAM 4O, 44mm
The 40mm ... only for women...
But here, a thing has to be added...
Ir's absolutely normal that each one considers that 44mm ( and even more 47mm ) is too big...
It's a matter of time.
Once you're used to, it begins easier to catch why the 44 mm is appealing...IMO.
Best.

me being an Asian with a small wrist as well.
This is my experience -
My first PAM was 244 - a 40mm GMT - which I thought was the maximum for my wrist when I bought it

Later, as I grew more and more fond of the brand, I decided that the 40mm size somehow lacked the DNA of a Panerai and I subsequently bought two 44mm pieces - PAM 214 and PAM 192 - and I love them. As for the 40mm, I passed it to my son (he is taller and bigger than I am but adores his first PAM).
Now I am considering 47mm submersibles!
For someone with a small wrist and new to the brand, however, starting with a 44mm PAM is not easy to swallow. I have one suggestion - if you don't mind the price and the wait, take a look at the 317. The "all-black" dial makes the watch look smaller and there are people who feel the design deserves a 47mm treatment. Go to a boutique, put it on your wrist and see whether you like it...

I can find no Panerais in no boutiques here, all items are always sold out!!! I did try on a friend's 45mm Raidomir Black Seal but it looks funny on my wrist :-(
Maybe I should turn my attention to the green Mil Rollie instead.
We should create a Poll to find the best alias for this Green Rollie!
LOL
Best.

My wife wears the PAM159 40mm GMT and loves it. So if you can't pull off a 44mm, try a GMT cause they're beautifully designed IMO.
Cheers,
Anthony
