Hello, after all these years collecting Rolex watches, I will soon buy my first PAM…and for once my wife is supporting me..LOL

I have decided to buy a second end PAM 183 Black Seal.

Is there any advice you guys could give me (things to check on the watch, or known issues) before I buy it?

PS:

I think I am well touched by the virus…I am already thinking of the next one which should be a power reserve PAM 90!

There are counterfeit Panerai's out there so make sure you study pictures of a real PAM183 Black Seal before you make the decision to buy this used PAM183.  Otherwise, there aren't any problems or issues in terms of functionality with the 183 that I know of.

Besides the condition of the watch itself, you should check the papers that come with the watch and Panerai watches with seconds hand always come with the COSC as well...(except the PAM190 JLC base movement).

I mean movement without small seconds, and some Panerai which used outsourced movements as the Lemania fo the Pam 192, for instance, or the Rolex movement of the Pam 21...

The most important thing when buying a  Panerai online or any watch for that matter you must "Buy the seller".  No matter how much you study the pictures (which can be false or not of the watch itself) the reputation of the seller is the key.  Try and build your rapport with him/her and be sure that the reference check in done systematically.

The next recommendation I have is to actually try your local AD and try the watches on and also develop a relationship with them.  You will be very happy down the roan when the virus strikes and you want to get on a waiting list for some of the new Panerai watches or the older ones that are sometimes scarce.
