I've been looking to acquire a PAM 122 for more than a year now and have found that these pieces are pretty hard to come by. I'm told that only 250 where ever made. Production was stopped before the whole run was completed in 2003 due to the fact that Zenith quit supplying movements to Panerai. Aside from that I've always been a fan of the 40mm Panerai's and the amount being produced today are pretty limited so it doesn't leave many choices for someone who can't pull the 44mm 45mm and 47mm watches off very well. Needless to say when the opportunity presented itself to acquire this piece I pulled the trigger and made the trade. The 122 may be my second favorite Panerai ever produced in between the 108 and the 168 and I could not be any happier with it right now!
I do want to thank another great member (you know who you are!) for making this happen. It was blind luck to a certain extent as the other member was doing a search on another forum and responded to a post that I made more than 9 months ago on a watch I posted for trade. As fate would have it, I still had the watch and a trade was made. (I hope to see some pictures on the Breguet forum soon!) I wanted to share some photos as not much info has been posted on this reference in the past. I hope you enjoy the photos!

The color combination is what makes this watch great! The grey dial with silver sub-dials really make this watch stand out from the rest IMO.
The 122 is pretty light and very comfortable to wear as its made from a mixture of steel and titanium.
Here is a shot of the beautiful Zenith movement. Panerai did a great job of decorating the rotor.
Here are some shots of it with my PAM 98. This new addition gives me coverage in both the Radiomir and Luminor lines.
Finally some wrist shots!
Hi Tony,
Nice watches and great photos. I too like the smaller Panerai selections and own a 42mm PAM 184. Not everyone can pull off the larger sized Panerai's, these are perfect for a smaller wrist and for some reason they tend to have more interesting movements. Enjoy the new 122!

My first Panerai was the PAM52 which is the 1st 40mm chrono Panerai made in Ti & Steel in 1999 (Panerai also made a WG version w/ black dial in 1999 - the PAM45). The PAM52 looks very similar to yours but doesn't have date, and I think the 52 dial is a tad darker.
The 40mm Zenith movement Panerai chronos have never really gotten that much attention from the Panerai collector community probably because of the smaller 40mm size, but those who feel the 44mm and 47mm Luminors are too big should find these 40mm chronos perfect.
Great to hear a PAM122 has gone to a great home, and wear it in the best of health Tony!
Cheers,
Anthony
PS. Below are pics of my ex-PAM52 in case you've never seen them before.

Besides the limited edition 52 and 45 which are the 1st 40mm chronos made in 1999, there's are the regular production 72 (bracelet) and 74 (strap) which are discontinued models just like the 121(bracelet) and 122 (strap).

guys new to the forum. I'm looking at my 4th panerai. can anyone confirm that the only difference between the 121 and 122 is the 121 came with the 2-tone bracelet?
thanks for any help
wow great watches you've got there !!
Did your PAM98 come with that deployant clasp? I thought it comes with a tang buckle?
As Anthnoy said, this is not the kind of watch that Panerai Fans hunt, but this is, IMO, a very interesting watch!
A nice and reliable movement inside, a clear and well balanced design, and, exactly like the Pam 98, this originality for a Panerai which make these 2 watches very appealing and interesting!
Really and honestly, Tony, you have great taste in watches, my friend!
Best!
Nicolas
Well done, a Panerai really beautiful. In fact, the most desirable for me is it´s great movement. I´ve always loved the caliber "El Primero".
I hope you enjoy it in the best of health!!!.
Best.
Emilio.
and great pair too.
