Hi... between the 2 models... which one do you prefer?

Can 297 change from bracelet to leather strap easily?? or just bracelet only??

I understand 88 can not change to bracelet ( unless with a special adapter, correct?? ) so its only rubber and leather strap.

The 297 can be changed to a leather strap easily but I believe the 88 needs some modifications to use a bracelet.

If you buy an OEM Panerai bracelet it is quite costly hence your decision should be based on whether you want a leather strap or a bracelet watch.

Another watch to consider is the PAM 89 but this one is titanium.

I like the dial look of the 88. To me its a bonus to have the bracelet thus I can change between the bracelet/ rubber and the leather straps.

Most likely I will pick the 88

With 297 you will have the option of going bracelet or strap while with 88 you're stuck w/ strap, at least from strictly OEM's point of view.   Having said that, do you like the bracelet on the 297?   Personally I think it's far inferior to the original design as you can find on 161 so perhaps it's worth taking a look at it instead?

Obviously changing strap is part of the culture of owning Panerai so you can't go wrong w/ the classic 88.

I dont really like the look of 297 bracelet. The 161 bracelet, IMO, defines Panerai bracelet. Thats what I remembered the most when I first fell in love with Panerai

I like the 88 dial very much. To me, it seems that the 297/161 dials lack something... others may feel its a cleaner dial... but I feel that the 88 dial is just right
