The AD was very understanding. They are trying to source another new 312 for me as they do not feel it is right that I should have to have mine opened up for repair after acquiring it only eight days ago.
May have to be patient though but thus far the service I have received has been exemplary. Going to take a few weeks I have been told. Plenty of time to think hard about the Patek 5980 I saw!!
When you are dealing with delicate hand built machines you should expect things to go wrong now and then - but it still gets disappointing when it happens to you.

I personally don't like it when I see someone complaining about a new watch that broke down and demanding absolute perfection.
"I spent $10,000 on this watch and it broke after a month! This watch is a piece of $*#*#*."
That's a big pet peeze of mine...

the AD service has been absolutely wonderful and I have my new 312 on my wrist as I type. Got some new straps to try out too so can't wait to get home

whereas the old 312 gained 12 seconds every 24 hours, this replacement has lost 1 second in the last 18 hours. So looks like I got a good one now
