Dear Panerai members I have a question.  Yesterday I purchased my first Panerai the 243 submersable.  When I left the store with it on I was extremely excited.  Day two I noticed a weird white spot that looked like it was inside the reflective area over the date.  When I look at it, it seems like a ugly white mark.  I called the store and the salesman said that it was just a reflection from some light.  Have any of you experieced this, and if so how do you deal with it.

underneath the sapphire crystal over the date window.  Is this what you're referring to?

If you see a white mark in this area and think it's a flaw, then I would bring your watch back to the authorized dealer you purchased it from.  If you purchased a new PAM243, Panerai's warranty is 2 years so bring the warranty card with you when you make your trip to your AD.  They'll need a copy of it for the warranty repair.

yes that is where it is and thanks for the response.  I have been playing with it and in the dark and when I cover it up the spot goes away, I just kind of freaked as it was a lot more than my wife wanted me to spend, but I feel in lov with it and had to have it.  Have you heard or seen this on other Panerai?

Do you see this white mark when you view the date area at an angle?  Or do you see it when you look at the date straight on?

i see it when I look at it straight on.  I can turn the watch and make it go away.  So maybe i just overreacted

I have got a 285 and i can see white spots too, which i think its the reflection of light due to the convex/concave nature of the cyclops as when i try to slowly turn the watch from different angle, the spots disappear....cheers, Mat

I've been with it for 4 days and I now agree with your assessment.  I just got a little freaked out as it was more than we had planned to spend on a watch.  But I love it and am glad I didnt get the 24
