Hi all
With the smaller 42mm rads just introduced do you think Panerai have plans to make luminor 1950 case
in 40mm or 42mm?
Many thanks

but there's a 44mm 1950 case already out there...
Although the 47mm brings out all its splendour, the 44mm ain't bad either..
Cheers - Sergio

I agree with you wholeheartedly. I'm not for compromises, myself. Matter of fact, I think that Panerai shouldn't even make 40mm cases. There are too many brands out there, that already do. But hey, that's the difference between a "papa&mama" shop that cares about tradition and a large corporation that cares about....quarterly statements..

From a Purists point of view a 40mm 1950 case would be unorthodox...
Having said that, from a business standpoint, I don't see why they should not do that, if there're demands out there. While Panerai has benefitted hugely from this whole big watch era, I don't see any reason why they should not do a little hedge by introducing 1950 40mm case size, should the world go the other way around in terms of watch size.
I really like the 44mm 1950 size but wouldn't mind if a 40mm version existed.
i'm actually quite curious to see it!
the Jaguar X-Type i.e. the Jaguar for those that cannot afford a REAL one. That move, turned out to be the beginning of the end for Ford's involvement with...tradition. There's a line to be drawn, IMO, somewhere. I am, and I wrote it already, acutely aware of the importance of the....quarterly statements... and I respect the need of any company to rack in as much money as it can. Still and all, why chosing to forget that the money could be a result of a tradition...improved and streamlined.....but a tradition nonetheless?
Having said that, the more the company will compromise the more old models are going to be...sought after (Pre-V models mania). As an avid collector, I don't see anything wrong with that...

issue a 47mm Historic regular Luminor case? Might as well give Panerai fans every different model configuration possible right?
I really hope they don't do this though
Panerai needs to protect the Historic Luminor case and leave it only in the 40mm and 44mm size. It will further mark the distinction that the 1950 Luminor case only comes in 44mm and 47mm.
Cheers,
Anthony
I'm not necessarily saying that OP will make 40mm 1950 case. Was really just stating that IF there're strong demands out there, then I think it make sense for them to do it.
While there's no doubt that OP should and will continue to develop products that appeals to die hard old skool fans, it would be fair to say that this particular sector can hardly offer a significant growth potential.
If they do, it will jeapardize the regular 40mm Luminor Historic case and will be too much overlap IMO.
And to introduce a new 42mm 1950 Luminor case, that's highly unlikely and doesn't make any sense. It won't be much larger than a 40mm and not much smaller than a 44mm. mm difference is too small.
If I were CEO of Panerai, I wouldn't do it because it would be a bad move.
Cheers,
Anthony
i hope they'll make a re-run of the 1950 Case in the Original Diameter (47mm) .!!!
i like'em BIG ;0))
