difference between 448 and 249?
HI all,
Panerai has done it again, another cali dial, but this time, I can't tell the difference other than the little inscriptions in the watch of "california" and "vitnage" at the bottom.
Anyone has a clue?

By the way, also would like to know which boutique should I reserve with, as I find both Hong Kong and Taiwan to have a very long list already!

Look at the movements used :)
PAM249 houses the basic Unitas movement while the PAM448 houses the in-house P.3000 movement. So I'd consider the PAM448 an upgrade over the PAM249, but that is just my own personal opinion.

I agree, looks like other than the inscriptions, the big change is the movement, and it is sweet to see a Cali with that new movement in it. The same awesome looks and feel, but with the upgraded movement, pretty cool. As a bonus, it is pretty easy to pretend my existing California is the new one 
Every time we look at Panerai's my wife wants a Cali, so hoping this means it will be easier to get another, either the existing, or preferably the new one if we find one. BTW, I still love how the original Cali movement looks, with the Côtes de Genève finish. The new movement looks great too, but nice to have one of the old ones...

There's a slight difference
on the case as well. I'll try to do some shots that detail the difference later on.
other differences then those mentioned above are....
1) water resistance : 30m for 249 vs 100m for 448
2) plexi crystal : 2mm for 249 vs 2.8mm for 448
3) word "California" printed on the inner bezel ring for the 448 and none for the 249
4) burgundy coloured strap for the 448 vs honey brown coloured strap for the 249
5) wordings on dial at 6 oclock just below the "rail track" - L Swiss L for the 448 and L Swiss Made L for the 249
