Totally understandable and I do find your post enjoyable.
My words were intended to be nothing more than a subtle, lighthearted comment. No harm intended. That he's a one watch person, enthusiast or not, who wears a Big Pilot is a great thing! My humor can be very dry at times and combined with text only communications online the meaning can get lost. If this is what happened, I apologize. I'll be more careful about phrasing in the future.

How many watches do you need to own to be a watch guy.
I would say zero. I think one can develop a passion for anything from the armchair reading and learning and becoming an expert. For example I know people who are passionate about Ferraris , know all the models and attributes ,but have never owned one.
Conversely someone who owns 100 watches but know very little about watches is not necessarily a “watch guy”.

Perhaps there's a distinction that can be drawn akin to the fable . . .
