IWC

Dug this out from the safe today. 2nd time on my wrist since I bought it 3 years ago which is just so wrong. With covid lockdowns, visits to the safe has been minimal and most of the time I don’t stop long enough to “check” on the watches. This one was missed while lying tucked into a far corner.

Not a very common one, this model, and I don't recall knowing about it. Which reference is this?

It was released in 2006. They are still out there, but not super easy to find. I find it to have much more character/charm than the newer variant, 377713. In particular I like the font on the model I have as well as the white sub dials... I think those provide a nice contrast.

One of my watches have the hands i like the most.




IWC hands.
My Revue have not exactly a copy of a IWC pilot, but i know IWC is the father.

And this is a good reason to enrich my collection with a IWC.

And just checking out the pricing on the web, IWC watches still seem reasonably priced, and you can pretty much get it anytime you want.

I peak a bit on their website.
I search for a 40 model till 8K.
Hand color, strap, dial, all i take to my final decision.
Maybe it is better to look for a used model that ticks all the boxes.

I sold the Mark 16 off previously and it was not the best decision I made. Wanted to get a replacement eventually but the Mark 17 was not to my taste. This is close, but I like your version better.

(Both: I sold mine previously and it was not the best decision I've made AND I like this version better than the ones that have followed, for proportions reasons)

It's amazing, I think we really have some sort of telepathy and serendipity. I was just losing sleep last night watching the videos about iwc 43mm big pilot. I like the new 43mm BP but the only iwc that fits me is the mark series. So I was surfing iwc website on the mark series and this post of yours shows up on my feed today. How's this one compared to the mark 16? I have been eyeing the mark series since the 15 series....

I like this one - compared to the Mark 16, I would prefer that just slightly over this one. The size is only 1mm apart, but that one somehow feels a little nicer on a smaller wrist - not sure if it’s visual or if the lugs on the 18 are actually a little longer. Either way, it is comfortable. The biggest thing you’d notice is that the date window on the 16 is a little more in the “right” place whereas on the 18, it is a tad too far in. Not so noticeable once on the wrist though, but quite prominent in pictures.

I'll keep it in mind if I ever pull the trigger on the iwc haha...
