Regarding the movement, I knew it was a JLC for the 3546 and a Piguet for the 3545. I even read online that the Piguet wasn't very accurate, thus the change for JLC: is it true, I don't know!

I heard that the JLC movement required less servicing
It was quite some time ago, but IWC had a message board that I joined and the moderator gave that reason. I haven't had problems with time keeping, but I keep it running on a winder because it is tedious to reset the calendar if you put it away for several months, so I have had it serviced several times.The main reason that I chose a 3545 was that brilliant white dial. I
assume that it is lacquered, but it looks as smooth as enamel. IWC moved to a silvered dial during later model, and I had to be careful to get the original while dial when shopping.

Watch winders are a great invention...
As long as the watch is set to the same TPD and winder mode, it will keep running well for a long time.
