It was quite some time ago, but IWC had a message board that I joined and the moderator gave that reason. I haven't had problems with time keeping, but I keep it running on a winder because it is tedious to reset the calendar if you put it away for several months, so I have had it serviced several times. The main reason that I chose a 3545 was that brilliant white dial. I
assume that it is lacquered, but it looks as smooth as enamel. IWC moved to a silvered dial during later model, and I had to be careful to get the original while dial when shopping.
Thanks for all of your complements; I was thrilled that your post provided an excuse to show the watch off! This really is a great enthusiast site. I started posting a little over 3 weeks ago, so I'm just getting started, but it's been a blast so far and I have learned a great deal from many people/posts.
Best Regards
