...what wrist size do you have? I'm still not decided yet, as I wear my Ocean 500 and have the impression it is a tad small. I don't want to get into discussing watch size, only to get an idea of dimensions. These Oceans are definitely the most beautiful watches for me...
Thank you very much! A really beautiful Ocean you have there, enjoy it! I wonder if I will be able to resist the temptation... I found one in very nice condition, but with the italic IWC-logo.
…you might already know this, but just in case, early iteration of Ocean 2000 had a bracelet with springs that were holding individual links together, while the latter version (e.g. mine) has pins, which withstood the test of time better.
Thank you for the information! I really appreciate it!

Yes, it is a Ref. 3500 with the Bandgeometrie 3 bracelet (the most secure one) and a fresh 2025 service with IWC, so it is very nice, even though I personally like the "Porsche Design by IWC" dial even more (also the "PD Porsche Design" and "IWC Porsche Design" versions, but they are rare.) Also this offred set has all the papers, as it seems to be to be offered by its first owner. Missing only the cardboard box. Though decision, as I measure my wrist and try to imagine how it would fit.
An unlikely watch to be 'reproduced' at this point of history....

A few participants mentioned how nice it would be if IWC starts making this watch again. Yet given the history of this watch when the stars aligned--literally!--it is unlikely that this watch would be produced at this point of history. To my knowledge, it was known that it would not make commercial sense insofar as the 2000 was concerned. It was after all a military commissioned model with a civilian spin-off. The know-how of case-making might have been retained; but it would still be too arduous to make curvatures like this one and every minute perfecting the design under Porsche was a minute lost to more commercial opportunities. We might have lost the artisanal vigor of that generation today--at least for high-mid level watches (the original price of a 2000 would be considered entry level prices today!).
That really is a stunning looking IWC Porsche Design Ocean 2000.

This was one of the first IWC watches I ever lusted after, but never quite managed to acquire one. the caramel colour of the hour markers and the slightly lighter colour of the hands hands just look fantastic against the black dial such a gorgeous looking watch.
In my nearly four decades of ownership, the Ti chrono tends to catch the eyes of youngsters (think teen boys); the Ti Kompassuhr tends to wow my design students when I was teaching design; and no one but watch nerds remark about the 2000–which says something extremely accomplished about its design that sinks and disappears into the wrist and becomes one with the body. Porsche might have remarked that it is its unusually organic shape and having paid attention to product design since the 1980s, nothing comes close to the level of the manufacture and comfort (though I have heard that not everyone likes the bracelet). It might have been the first stealth watch especially in the black TiCon which I had the pleasure of handling in a particular shop in Wien some time ago.
