The finish I would say this is IWC standard "Probus"
That pellaton model was available for purchase at one point for around CHF200 IIRC.
The model was to promote the re-launch of pellation movement equipped in IWC cal. 5000 ten years ago. I would use the term "re-launch" since it is well kown that IWC used this same mechanism many many years ago like C.8541 ….
and really nice post.
This Portuguese 7 Days is, probably, the IWC watch that more sings to me.
I didn´t know that it had Plexi.... so, now, I´m just falling in love with it.
Plexi has something especial, something that adds lot of soul to each watch... I must recognice that I´m a plexi-lover.
IWC mades interesting watches for me (some of the vintage collection, some Portuguese, some Classics Pilot watches, and some Ingenieurs), but I think that a Portuguese would be the best choice for me.... always if I don´t find and can buy a Aquatimer 812, black dial....LOL
Nice add to your amazing collection hermano.
Best.
Emilio.
IMHO, IWC hit a home run with the IWC Portuguese 7 Day series. The shape of the case, lay-out of the dial, and over-all presentation is outstanding. After an extended mating ritual, during which time I admittedly had reservations regarding the propotions of the watch, I pulled the trigger on a 5022. It immediately became a fixture in my collection!

Great piece you have there.
Extremely captivating big dial in my favourite colour.
Will dream of it tonight.

...Hi Nicolas, I have the same watch but in RG since year 2000. One of my favourate IWC!
Happy New Year to all........
Cheers,
SC
The Platinum, the RG, and this SS, as a friend of mine owned the whole set.
Each of these 3 has something very special, indeed.
Yours is maybe more elegant, while the SS is maybe, for once, a bit warmer.
A very nice watch, by the way.
A pleasure to see yours!
Thanks a lot, SC.
Best.
Nicolas
The main reason i like and bought one (5001) is becos this is one of the few big watches in the market with the "correct" movement size. Btw i enjoyed winding it up manually and see the power reserve needle move upwards, kinda like starting up a powerful enigine...lol
